For more than a half-century from the 1950’s through the early 2000’s he was the most listened-to man in radio with an estimated daily audience of 24 million people. Paul Harvey was heard on more than 1,200 radio stations nationally and another 400 on Armed Forces Radio throughout the world. On February 19, 1963 he came to Canton to speak at a Lincoln Day event. We’ll listen to a preserved speech of this event and the three short programs he used on his radio broadcasts in the following months. The speech covered everything from the just-ended Cuban Missile Crisis, to his thoughts on television, to political strife in the U.S., to human equality, and much more. You might even discover things aren’t that much different today than they were 61 years ago! We’ll have plenty of time for discussion and for you to share your stories and memories throughout the evening.
